Turid Rugaas – Down Under Seminar and Profile May 2014
In 2014, Lets Walk invited esteemed Norwegian dog trainer and educator Turid Rugaas to Perth. This was her first Australian visit and her thought provoking two-day seminar was a sell-out.
Turid is an international dog trainer and educator and published author. She is an acknowledged world authority on canine body language, notably on calming signals that dogs give other dogs and humans indicating that they are experiencing stress.
Her straight-talking style along with her originality of thought and practical experience made for an enlightening seminar. Thanks Turid – you certainly gave us all something to think about and take away!

Turid Rugaas Profile
Norwegian Turid Rugaas is an international dog trainer, international dog trainer educator and published author.
She is an acknowledged world authority on canine body language,notably on calming signals that dogs give other dogs and humans indicating that they are experiencing stress.
Turid has been studying canine social language for more than 40 years. At the end of the eighties with her colleague Ståle Odegard they studied, described and systematized the dog calming signals.
Turid’s best selling book and DVD “On Talking Terms with Dogs: Calming Signals” has changed the way humans think about dogs and has brought a greater appreciation of how intelligent dogs are. Her other books and DVDs on the subject have been translated into many languages and are best sellers in their specific fields where they are recognised as points of reference.
Turid runs the International Dog Trainer School that has a presence in many European countries. She is the President of Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (PDTE) and an honorary member of that organisation. PDTE is an organisation set up in 1998 to promote and bring forward the best possible practices in dog training.
Turid is involved in numerous canine research projects.
Turid’s integrity, knowledge, originality of thought and practical solutions for canine behavioural issues and canine – human interactions are complimented by her ability to disseminate, communicate and educate. This makes Turid a very sought after speaker for conferences and seminars all over the world and we are very fortunate that she agreed to come to Australia for the very first time!
